Persons with disabilities (PwDs) encounter hardships in their day-to-day life while visiting public utility places, using various public transportation and places of recreation. ACCESS is the core issue for attaining one’s full potential, capability and integrating PwDs into the main stream.’ - Sanjeev Sachdeva

Samarthya was founded by Ms. Anjlee Agarwal and Mr. Sanjeev Sachdeva (both persons with muscular dystrophy and assisted wheel chair users). The duo are trained by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on promotion of Accessible Tourism at Bali,
Indonesia and Non-Handicapping Environment for Disabled People Bangkok, Thailand- 2002 & 2004 (by Asia Pacific Development Center on Disability, APCD). Both participated in the 10th International Conference on Transport & Mobility for Elderly and the Disabled, 23rd-26th May, 2004 at Hamamatsu, Japan. They are also members of the National Core Access Committee constituted by the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
